It was 4th place for Highgate due to a grand team effort. Several athletes were away over half term or revising plus some unfortunate events meant that vital points were not gained and 3rd overall was just out of reach.
In the hot sun there were some excellent performances in the 800m A double 1st in Under 17 Mens 800m races; LAWRENCE MATTHEWMAN 1st A (2.07.3) ; ADAM TAYLOR 1st B (2.09.7).
It was Lawrence's  first ever attempt at 800m. Both are from William Ellis school.
Kirby Williams had an excellent match taking the lead in the u13girls 800m until the final sprint when she was overtaken but finished with a new PB ;
KIRBY WILLIAMS 2ND A (2.47.1).  she was then just pipped into second place 70M HURDLES 2nd A(13.7s).

There was another double in U15 boys SHOT PUTT; LEON SILCOTT 1st A (9.73m); ANTHONY NORRIS 1st B (9.39m) Anthony also won HAMMER THROW 1st  A (26.24) and in 400m was 2nd A (57.1s).
In a photofinish U17 Mens 100M  HAKEEM ADERIBIGBE 2nd A(11.6s) ran very close to  qualifying for the Nationals.
The Under 17Mens 4x100m relay team came in first only to be disqualified for running out of lane during baton change, slightly demoralised they jumped back on their feet a few minutes later to sprint to a storming victory in 4x400m relay.
U15Girls and U15Boys 4x100m relays both took 3rd place.

It was a grand team effort with every last point being of vital importance in a very close match. There are two YAL matches to go Sunday 25th June Ilford and a final home match at Parliament Hill on 23rd July.
